Teenager Coco Gauff has been the youngest player to win a WTA title in 15 years with victory in the Linz Open.
The American beat Jelena Ostapenko 6-3 1-6 6-2 and is projected to maneuver in the planets top 75.
After losing in the last round of qualifying gauff only qualified for the primary draw.
Its been an awesome week, I hope to come back again. I will remember this moment for the rest of my life, said Atlanta-born Gauff.
After she beat five-time champion Venus Williams in the first round, the youngster, who rose to fame in Wimbledon this year, emulates Nicole Vadisova, who was 15 when she won her maiden WTA title in 2004 in Tashkent.
Gauff held two break points in her opening service game off before breaking up Ostapenko from the next to take control of the opening set.
But, 22-year-old Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion, hit back at the second place, before levelling the match with an 29, breaking Gauff three occasions.
The adolescent rallied from the decider however, breaking to lead 5-0. However, Ostapenko saved two match points then broke Gauff to want to track 5-2.
Mentor and her father, Corey Gauff, afterward came on court to present his daughter some encouragement. He explained:Just relax, youre not likely to sprint to the finish line, you are going to walk into the end line.
Trust your own shots. Calm down, take your own mind into a practice match, to a different place. About negatives consider advantages, play, do not think. Yesterday if you understand youd 5-2 you would take that, you are in control
She broke , winning title and the game when Ostapenko delivered a forehand long.
